ScaDS.AI Meetup "AI Insights & Workshop on the Model Context Protocol (MCP)"
16.09.2025 | 17:00 - 19:00 | Region Leipzig
ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig | Humboldtstr. 25 | 04105 Leipzig
The ScaDS.AI Meetup is a dynamic exchange platform for local and regional players that offers exciting insights into cutting-edge research in the field of AI. In this hands-on edition of the Meetup, we dive into a promising innovation in the world of large language models (LLMs) and their interaction with the outside world: the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Admission from 16:45
17:00 Welcome & Introduction | Oliver Welz, ScaDS.AI Service & Transfer (Living Lab)
Short presentation of ScaDS.AI, research, services & points of contact for companies & interested parties.
17:10 Lecture and AI insights
Learn what the Model Context Protocol is and how it connects memory, tools, functions and external data. We will take a look at how it differs from previous approaches such as tool calling or prompt engineering and what practical benefits MCP offers for developers, users and organizations and their processes.
By the end of this session, you will have a clear understanding of the architecture behind MCP - and why it matters for the future of AI-based applications.
17:45 Interactive workshop: Using the MCP model context protocol
Create your own MCP workflow - you can explore MCP hands-on using prepared examples. In the workshop we will get to know and work with MCP in two tracks:
- Beginner-friendly track (little/no code): use Langflow with prepared examples to visually and practically see MCP in action - no code required.
- Developer track (code-based): Dive into a real code base and implement MCP-based workflows yourself using a prepared repository, templates and examples.
Whether you want to experiment or implement, we've got you covered. No set-up is required - we will provide you with ready-to-use laptops on site. However, you are welcome to bring your own device if you want to work with your personal setup.
18:35 Discussion
Let's talk about the results: What did you create? What challenges or ideas have emerged?
From 18:45 OpenLab & Networking
After the workshop, we invite you to visit our OpenLab area to meet other participants, exchange ideas and ask questions. Whether you are new to this topic or already have experience with MCP-based systems, this is your opportunity to connect with the community and researchers behind the scenes.
