Für ihre Vision von sauberer, zuverlässiger und günstiger Energie setzt das junge Unternehmen auf SOFC. Wie das genau funktionieren soll und welche nächsten Schritte zu gehen sind, erklärt Balasubramanian Ramasamy von der mPower GmbH im futureSAX-Interview.
Herr Ramasamy, bitte beschrieben Sie Ihr Unternehmen in einem Satz:
mPower GmbH is commercial manufacturer of CFY based SOFC/SOEC/rSOC Stacks.
Bei der „Revolution des Energiemarktes“ setzen Sie auf die Festoxidbrennstoffzelle (SOFC). Welche Vorteile bringt diese Technologie mit sich?
We all know that the future energy transition is focussing towards the clean and green energy technologies. The success of a technology is based on its reliability and the affordability to own it and its suitability for the present as well as for the future requirements in the market. This will enable the technology through the products developed using those technologies, to penetrate the demanding markets and create a revolution. Thus, the products/solutions developed by mPower GmbH using CFY based SOFC/SOEC technology is proved to be the suitable one by satisfying various requirements as mentioned above.
Wie kamen Sie auf die Idee, dass Hochtemperaturbrennstoffzellen, den Energiemarkt revolutionieren könnten? Was war Ihr Ausgangspunkt, Ihre Vision?
In general, the technology as well as the possibility of solution to the market will be understood and decided first before forming a company as well as its vision. In our case, it is the other way around. We decided on our vision statement first, which is “24x7 Clean, Green, Reliable and Affordable Energy for all” and then started looking for different technologies and met experts around the world who can support us to make this vision come true. Thus, we came to know about Fraunhofer IKTS, the best in the world for ceramic based technologies and their renowned expertise as well as research advancement in SOFC/SOEC. So in order to commercialize this proven research to a market viable product in all means, mPower GmbH was formed in the end of 2015 and started its operation in Dresden since 2016 with the license acquired from Fraunhofer IKTS for manufacture and commercialize the technology worldwide.

Being a young and dynamic company, we have a clear focus and vision to enhance the quality of millions of lives by providing them 24x7 clean, green, reliable and affordable energy. We are preparing ourselves to the market demands and at this situation a big support is required to give us hands in order to be successful in business. The technology is proven and products are developed continuously to fit the market demands worldwide, showing the way for an enormous business potential.
Zu guter Letzt: Wo steht die mPower GmbH in fünf Jahren?
In the next 5 years, mPower GmbH will have changed the way that energy is being generated and supplied. Besides the teams and sales increase, there will be further innovative value additions and applied intelligence on the stacks manufactured by mPower GmbH. Like the Intel processor inside almost every computer, the mPower Stacks which are “Made in Germany and Made for the World”, will be used in almost every decentralized energy producing and storage solutions. We will be able to bring energy independence to the millions all over the world by developing value-based, frugal, plug [&] play applications across various industry segments. With our major target being agriculture sector, mPower GmbH would be proud to value itself from the below illustrated targets.
The unit of the Y-Axis is not the monetary value rather it is the “LIFE” of Farmers saved by mPower through its “good energy solutions”. So, the value of the company in the next 5 years can be assessed by assigning a monetary value for every single life being saved.
